Some people just like some privacy and do not want to be stared at all the time while sitting in traffic.

Whatever your reason, I understand, you want privacy and like to see but not be seen. I get it and am on board. Privacy and window tint go hand in hand so you should see how dark tint film you want before you put it on the car. After that it is too late unless you want to fork over some cash.

I think getting 50% tint is way too light and you may even think it is not tinted at all. 35% is a bit better but I bet you will want something darker. Warning here: Anything lower may be more likely to get the attention of cops and the police love to give tickets for window tint. My favorite is 17% or so, which the lower tint shop sells, and I think it is a good balance of not too light and night too dark.

I think 5%, some call this limo black tint, is a bit too dark to drive with at night and can cause some real big problems turning at night. Combine this in the rain with light reflecting all over the place and you could hit a person or do some damage really easy so be very careful if you want to go with the 5% tint.

The real question to ask if if you will be able to be comfortable with your darkness and the film you choose to put on your windows for privacy. Once you have figured that out go ahead and order the supplies to DIY or schedule and appointment at the local shop to have it done be a pro. Either way will work, just choose what works for you.
