Installing window tint helps gain a sense of privacy and also provides UV protection. It is possible to do the job at home. It is not the easiest job to do but can be done. The first thing you should do is gather all the supplies you will need. The supplies you need are the window tint, an exacto knife, soap and water mixture in a spray bottle, razor, bone tool, squeegee, and a blow dryer.

The first thing you want to do is to cut the shape of the window out of the tinted film. This is actually the hard part. If you do not want to waste tint then practice with card board or paper.

If you get it perfect with another object and it is okay to trace onto the window tint film. If you are having trouble you may also want to check and see if you can find precut tint for your vehicle as some models of vehicles do offer precut film.

After cutting set it aside and grab your spray bottle mixture and spray the car window. Use the razor over the window to make sure there is no residue on the window. Use the squeegee to rid the soap and water from the window. Next, put the tint on the window leaving a 1/4 in. from the top with no tint. The area without tint will be covered when the door is closed. Using the bone tool push the tint below the inner rubber seals of the window.

To remove any moisture in-between the glass and the film blow the window on the untinted side with a blow dryer and squeegee the other side in a horizontal motion. Repeat the process for each window you tint. Do note that you can not use razor blades on the back window as it has a defrost and will ruin the defrost if you do.

If you tint the back window you will also need to remove any film from over the defroster lines. Also, before trying to tint your front window you should check the laws of your state because it is often illegal to tint the front windows of a car.

Hopefully that was a useful how to tint car windows session for you and you learned a little something new today. Good luck in your mission.
