Washington DC Tint Laws

If you live in the state of Washington, DC, and you are a motorist, you may need to know something about its tinting laws for your automobile.

Some drivers may not be aware that every state has its own tinting laws, and that is also true of Washington, DC residents, so the following information is in order:

-In Washington DC, drivers cannot spray their autos with a yellow, red, gold or black finish

-Tinting must not reflect more than 35% of sunlight in the vehicle and it must have 35% of light in vehicle as well

-If windows are tinted, then the vehicle must have side and rear-view mirrors, and the driver must be able to see 200 feet to the rear with such mirrors.  While it is subjective, it gives  a good rule of thumb for your car tinting decisions.

-If the motorist has certain health issues as to why they need to have a certain amount of tinting for their vehicle that does not match the above requirements, then the need to get a medical exemption from their doctor. For example, if a driver feels that they need a windshield with extra screening, then they are allowed to have the top 6 inches of their windshield to be tinted.

These are the above laws that drivers in Washington, DC and its visitor must comply with, otherwise they can be penalized to the fullest extent of the law for not complying with such laws for that state.
