If you are like me, your parents often question why you want to get your windows tinted.  They say it looks ghetto and many people only do it to hide things inside their automobile. While this could be true sometimes, I think it is a gross misstatements and stereotype. Many people just love the way their car looks with automotive window tint on the windows.  I understand their concern, but let kids be kids sometimes and fix up their rides like they want to.  It is their money.  I hope.

I see the point that it could be dangerous and people need to learn to be careful when driving with tinted windows, but with anything it takes proper training and education to learn about tints and how the darker you go you lose visibility, especially at night.  Once these things are gone over one should be able to understand the risks of driving with 35%, 15% or even 5% tint on their windows.

Automotive tint is much like residential, but the material is a bit different from what I can tell. I am no expert on residential tints, but have seen a few homes with it done to them.  Many times people do this to keep thier homes cool, so it makes since it would work for cars too.

While parents have a good concern when adding film to darken your ride, they need to know you will be safe and you are not doing it for the wrong reasons.   If you can convince them of this then you should be able to be on your side.  If you paid for your own ride, you have an even bigger chance of success.

The other option is just to do it and hope nothing goes to hell. Someone told me before it is easier to ask for forgiveness than it is permission. Good luck.
