Most of us love the summer time. No school, less work, and more play, but if your house is always 100 degrees I bet you are not a fan of the summer at all. Most times people then hate the summer and wish the heat would leave their own as quickly as it came. For those home owners, I think they should try residential window tinting.

Professionals should due this, since it is kinda hard and I would not want to try it myself. The will put films on your interior windows and in turn these will reflect more light out, and keep the cooler air in. Just like all window tints, some light will get through so it will not look like a prison in your house.

Most residential window tint is of high quality, so be sure to check the reviews and other information before you go ahead and sign the contract. It may not be cheap, but be sure to get a few quotes before you let the contractor go to work. Most home tint jobs can be done in a day or two at the most, so keep an eye on things to make sure it is progressing nicely.

Like my other posts, you kinda get what you pay for. A cheap tint job will show in just a short time, so unless you are very handy I would not try this myself. If you are, be sure to order quality residential films that are really meant for homes. Do not get a generic brand for cars.

In the long run this will save you money as the heating bills in the winter will go down too as the heat will be kept in. Many people forget about that nice perk and only think they will benefit from savings in the summer. Hopefully you have the spare cash to go ahead and get this done before the year is over. If you do it in the winter you can get a good discount since it is offseason.

Removing window tint is probably not because you want to, but maybe you got a ticket or fine and are being forced to take it off. Or maybe you want to go darker or just sell your car to someone who does not want it on there. Either way you want to remove the film from your ride and would like to know how to do it without damaging your windows.

The best way I found is to use ammonia and soak it on the windows for a few hours. Let it bake out on a hot sunny day when it can really do its work. Sometimes I would cover it with some kind of plastic so it does not evaporate as quickly. Other times I just spray it on there good. Be careful not to get it on your interior as it could do some damage.

Whether you got limo black tint or lighter ones, they all come off the same. I normally start by using a razor blade and seeing if I can get under the top of the glass and start to get some of it peeling off before soaking it. Be sure not to do this too hard or you could scratch the glass. Take your time and allow the stuff to soak into the tints and sit in the sun.

Some people also try heating it up with a hair dryer or other tool, but I cannot verify how well it works. The key here is patience as it may take a good part of the day for the film to get good and loose. No need to rush it as you do not want to scratch the glass.

Also, once you remove the films you should not get your windows tinted for about a month. The residue and chemicals used will make it harder for the new stuff to stick and will cause a bigger risk of getting air bubbles trapped in their. No one wants to have that so just have patience and wait to re-tint them.

If you are like me, your parents often question why you want to get your windows tinted. They say it looks ghetto and many people only do it to hide things inside their automobile. While this could be true sometimes, I think it is a gross misstatements and stereotype. Many people just love the way their car looks with automotive window tint on the windows. I understand their concern, but let kids be kids sometimes and fix up their rides like they want to. It is their money. I hope.

I see the point that it could be dangerous and people need to learn to be careful when driving with tinted windows, but with anything it takes proper training and education to learn about tints and how the darker you go you lose visibility, especially at night. Once these things are gone over one should be able to understand the risks of driving with 35%, 15% or even 5% tint on their windows.

Automotive tint is much like residential, but the material is a bit different from what I can tell. I am no expert on residential tints, but have seen a few homes with it done to them. Many times people do this to keep thier homes cool, so it makes since it would work for cars too.

While parents have a good concern when adding film to darken your ride, they need to know you will be safe and you are not doing it for the wrong reasons. If you can convince them of this then you should be able to be on your side. If you paid for your own ride, you have an even bigger chance of success.

The other option is just to do it and hope nothing goes to hell. Someone told me before it is easier to ask for forgiveness than it is permission. Good luck.

Okay, as many people have asked, I came up with some estimates that are good for guessing car window tinting prices in my area. Now, it may vary some compared to other parts of the world, but I think it is a good start on deciding how much to pay for window tint.

With kids and young people wanting to fix up their cars and make them look sweet, it takes alot of money to do this right. When kids do not have good jobs yet it is hard to gets tons of cash together to afford window tint.

The chart below will summarize area car window tinting prices:

2 Door Coupe – Side Windows Only – $90.00

2 Door Coupe – Side and Back Windows – $140.00

2 Door Truck – Side and Back Windows – $125.00

4 Door Car – 4 Windows – $130.00

4 Door Car – 4 Windows and Rear Window – $210.00

Windshield Tint – Add $25 to the total. Some place may throw this in for free. Ask them!

These are just may estimates from about 15 shops in my regional area here. Some had specials some had full price, but this seemed to be an average cost.

Also, they will ask you to sign a waiver if your tint is below the legal limit. I think most states have anything under 50% on the front windows illegal.

It also seemed that the rear window with defroster lines really drove up the prices. So depending on how your car is this could cause a big change in prices. It takes a while to cut around all those lines when getting the tint ready to go on.

Another thing you can do is wait until the winter when the car season has died down some and normally they have some kind of Christmas specials that they will do. You may be able to combine the deal with a remote starter for a great price too. Just be smart and ask around.

If you were to do it yourself I bet you could do it for less than $50 in materials, but you may have overages if you mess up.

Whether you choose 3M or Llumar, each offers a great quality window tinting film that you will be happy with. Do not just grab some cheap stuff off the shelf at wal mart and expect to have a great tint job. A quality film is more expensive but it really does look better and last longer, saving you money in the longer run.

If I had to pick I would lean toward the 3M, mainly because I have used it more. The Llumar is great stuff but I just have not used it as much yet since my supplier gets me the 3M tint.

With any tint job I think the most important choices are made before the job is even started. Where to take the car is a great thing to know early on. Along with the cost, it may be the most important issue for you. After that, knowing that a good film will be put on your windows gives you the piece of mind of long lasting quality.

There may even be a guarantee with these depending if they are installed by a qualified installer. I am not sure so do not quote me on that, but even if you do it yourself, the chances are good it will last longer than the life of the car.

I am not sure if any shops really use low quality tint anymore, but if they do just wait a few years and you will see purple tint and creases show up. This is a sign of bad quality tints and even the greatest installer in the world could not overcome using bad materials.

I would use the best quality tint I could afford and then let the pros install it. You can try it yourself, like I recommend in other posts, but in the end I think most people would rather pay a couple hundred bucks and know it will be done right.

When most people think of tinting their windows, they automatically think about their cars. Well this is not always the case as many people want their homes or offices to keep cooler. To do this, many people have their home windows tinted in order to save on cooling and heating costs. This is normally quite a bit cheaper than adding air conditioning and many people can do it themselves.

Most would not think of this but if you live in a hot house or have an office without AC, then using tint at home will really be a quick option to stay cool. The goal is to choose the proper company to do the job for you if you do not want to try it by yourself. A few tiny bubbles or crinkles in your home would not look good, so I call the local glass company that also does commercial office and home window tinting.

The goal is to keep it cooler as the window tint shades the sun and reflects the light back out from the house. If you have many trees you will notice it being cooler, since the heat cannot get to the house. Shading the windows does the same thing and I was shocked about how much cooler it felt. Also, the heat stays in the house better in the winter with the tint on the windows too. It shades in the summer and keeps the heat in during the cold months. What a great concept.

Ask your friends for a good reference and then call around to see if you can find the best price. Do not always go for the cheapest since they may not tint your windows the best or may use a low quality film to do the job. It will save you more money in the long run. Trust me.

Windshield tint is a risky thing to do, but if you do not go too far down on your windshield then it can provide good relief from the bright sun and not impair your driving abilities. Most times you can even tint these as dark as 20% or even down to 5% or less and not have any problems. If the strip is small enough many people will not even really notice and you should not have a problem at all.

The biggest benefit to having a strip of tint on your windshield is the early morning or evening when you are trying to look at a stoplight and see when it is turning green or red for that matter. I think most people love the tinted area once they have it done. Many just forget about it because the shops often do not mention it or do not think people will like it. I love mine tinted that way and would not do it any differently.

A strip of a full length windshield should got anywhere from 10 – 40 dollars depending on the person and shop who does the job. You can also buy it yourself and save some money. It would be much easier than doing a window or back glass. Many people wonder if it will make a big difference on their car and I always tell them it is well worth the money spent. For an extra few bucks it can make your eyes much happier if the sun is glaring down on them. It can also be safer since you can see the traffic lights better too.

Be careful not to use mirror window film on the front though as the reflection could blind other cars. Mirror tint on the windows seems to be okay since it does not directly bounce off and blind people. The reflection is really only seen during certain angles of light so it may not be a big deal. I just like to error on the side of caution.

Many people love the look of mirror window film and put it on no matter what. I have seen many good installations that did not look cheap, just be sure to see quality films that do not tear too easily. If you are looking for a different look for your cool ride then using mirror tint could be the way to go. You have to have some imagination to see what it will look like when it is all said and done.

The next choice to make is whether or not you want to do it yourself and save some money or hire a tint pro to do it for you. Each has its pros and cons and those are discussed elsewhere.

Well, to tell you the truth, I am not a fan of red window tint. I think it just looks to bold on most cars and really draws negative attention. The only exception may be a red car with matching red tint, but it would have to be done right. I have never seen it on a street car, only on show cars and in magazines.

I think it would be a cop magnet too and would probably get you a few tickets in your days of driving a car with red film on the windows. Do not get me wrong, I have seen some quality show cars with different colored tint on them, but normally I am not a huge fan. Just my opinion and I have seen many cars and trucks tinted in my day.

Whether you love or hate it, most people that have one car with dark windows will often have many more tinted in their lifetime. It is kind of addicting and many times people love to get all their cars done. My only advice is get used to driving with lower visibilty because it is harder to see out of at night no matter what anyone says. Do not cause an accident just to look cool.

I have mentioned blue tints before and think they are less harsh and maybe better suited for the everyday car. To each his own though. Those multi-color films that fade from gray to black can also look really cool if done right. You can also blend them with graphics on the car to really make them stand out.

Other times I think just plain old black looks the best and that is what most people would be best trying at first. You can always use computer programs to guess what it will look like, but you never really know until it is on the car.

As many of you know, 3M makes many different types of products. Often, those are of high quality and many people get good use and a long life out of their things they make. I am also a fan of 3M window tint. It offers flexible, yet strong, films that can be cut and shaped very easily. If you are doing it yourself then they would be a good choice.

I have used many window tints in my day and have used some bad ones along the way. Those kinds are easy to crinkle and tear. That is bad when you are trying to do a job that requires some movement with the window tint. Those bad ones can also turn purple over time if left in the sun. I have seen no evidence of any color change from the cars I used 3M window tints on.

Most people like to get cheap window tint, but that is not always the best for the long run and the best for the looks of your car or truck. Spending a few more dollars on the 3M stuff can actually be better in the long run, especially if you want to sell your car in a few years with a quality tint job still on it. Many shops use 3M film and I would ask your shop if you choose to have some one else do it, what kind of film they use.

Overall, it is important to use films of quality material and a consistent tint level. You want to make sure your front windows match the backs and a quality company will make a product that will allow you to have confidence in your choice. Also, look for a money back guarantee against defects or other things that could be outside of your control.

The choice is yours, but be careful in trying to save a couple dollars. Sometimes it is not worth it.

Window tint on a car is not just put on for decoration. It will allow your car to be cooler than the warmer months and will help you to hide the valuables that you have in your vehicle. Tint is an excellent way to prevent nosy people seeing what is going on your vehicle. If you should happen to be involved in a car accident, the tint on your windows will prevent the glass from shattering.

Although there are many wonderful reasons that people choose to dark in their windows, having the wrong amount of darkness on your vehicle windows may cause you to receive a traffic citation. Let us look at how to use a window tint meter to help determine if your windows are too dark.

You will need to open the window halfway. Put the one built-in meter on the glass, you will do this by placing the meter on the glass of the halfway rolled down window. The device has a special opening on it that will allow it to easily slide onto your window.

The meter will begin to work once you place it on the half way open window. You will not have to turn the device on. Read what is displayed on the window tint meter. You will be able to see the exact amount of tint that you have on your windows.

Once you have the level of tint on your vehicle, you can go to your state website for state police and it will tell you whether or not the tint on your windows is against the law in the state you reside.

The level of tint is different in each state; please keep this in mind if you happen to try to register your vehicle in a new state. What is considered acceptable in one state may not be acceptable in another.
